Christian and Natacha have been together for 15 years and are the parents of Thiago (8). What began as a hobby has evolved into a growing venture that blends woodturning, cabinetry, and natural finishes—demanding more and more of their time.
A few years ago, they moved from Buenos Aires to a home with space to set up a workshop. Christian, who has a technical background (UTU and mechanical engineering studies at UTU) and work experience in metallurgy and the paint and varnish industry, began by crafting percussion instruments in his spare time. After taking a lutherie course, he realized that many of the tools used by luthiers weren’t produced in Uruguay.
He started making tools for personal use; later, to cut costs, he produced batches of 20—keeping one for himself and offering the rest at cost to fellow artisans. The response was encouraging, and today his catalog includes over 60 different tools, from adjustment keys, benders, and scrapers to diamond fret files.
At the same time, Natacha developed her own line of natural finishes, blending beeswax, waxes, and oils without synthetic chemicals—a direct inspiration from her background as a chef, where lab-like processes (oils, resins, pastes) play a key role.
Christian still works at a metal workshop, dedicating his evenings to the business. Meanwhile, Natacha takes care of the finishing work and keeps the family bond strong, sharing the workspace with their son, who already participates and asks to appear on social media.
They place strong emphasis on supporting local industry: they strive to use Uruguayan materials—regional woods, local metals—not only for cost reasons, but for the symbolic value of promoting a circular economy. They’ve built relationships with suppliers in several areas of the country.
“The foundation is to use as much national raw material as possible—not just to lower costs, but because as we grow, we also help other entrepreneurs grow alongside us.”
This family venture is also an artisanal “laboratory”—a blend of tradition, technique, passion for wood, and curiosity—where each piece reflects the combined expertise of both: Christian, with his technical and mechanical background, and Natacha, with her knowledge of natural finishes. Everything is done with patience and dedication, in workdays that begin after their regular jobs, “with a 40-minute pause for family dinner.”
